Associated extract from the book : Thoughts, behaviours, and feelings are closely connected; making small changes in one area often leads to positive changes in the others. For instance, when you engage in a positive behaviour like taking a walk, it can lift your mood and encourage more optimistic thinking, which in turn motivates further healthy actions. We can choose to focus on improving all these areas simultaneously or address them one at a time. By making intentional adjustments, even small ones, you can set off a chain reaction that supports your overall well-being.

Associated extract from the book :
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a psychological theory that organizes human needs into a pyramid, beginning with the most basic requirements for survival at the bottom and progressing upward to the pursuit of personal growth and self-fulfilment. The idea is that each level of need must be sufficiently met before a person can comfortably focus on the next. Life circumstances can cause movement up or down the levels, which is a normal part of the human experience.

Helen, who has travelled a similar path, shares her own early sketches. These images include an image named 'Dotty.' Helen remembers feeling uncertain and vulnerable when she first drew 'Dotty,' but as she continued to create new sketches, she noticed her confidence steadily growing. Over time, Helen realized that she no longer identified with the person depicted in her initial drawings—instead, she saw clear evidence of her own progress and resilience

The Raw edition. Chapter 20. POSITIVE SELF TALK
It is helpful to have personalised positive words to say to yourself. Talking to yourself does not mean you are mad. It is an important part of recovery. I have used positive self-talk at many times in my life. Talking positively to yourself gives you self-confidence and self-belief. Chose a positive phrase and repeat it to yourself both out loud and in your head. The more you repeat your positive phrases, the more you will start to believe in yourself, and you will feel confident and happier. To illustrate, my positive words are below. I use these with great success at meetings, job interviews
